The path breaking "Absorb" Stent also called Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold (BVS) was deployed FOR THE FIRST TIME IN INDIA at 7:33am on Thursday 20th Dec 2012 by Dr. V.T Shah and Dr S.V.Dagli at Surana Sethia Hospital, Bombay. It was a complex case of a 72yrs old male who had 10 yrs ago, undergone Bypass Surgery (CABGS) and now the Bypass grafts had failed in two of his major arteries. At the end of the procedure, the patient received 4 Absorb Stents in one sitting
This is FIRST TIME IN INDIA, that a patient has been implanted commercially available ABSORB stent. Also this is one of the rare cases in the world literature wherein Four ABSORB Stents have been deployed in a patient in single sitting.
