Bhalai, a short film highlighting the issue of corporal punishment was an entry to the Kallola film contest held in Odisha.
Kallola’ meaning ‘ bird song’ in Odia, is a short film contest, that aimed to create a platform and build awareness on child rights not just among the creative community but among the youth and general public.
Kallola, launched in October 2014 invited entries from professional and amateur filmmakers. It received 27 entries in 30, 60 and 90 seconds’ duration.
The theme for this year was ‘Ending Violence against Children’ with four sub themes: Child Labour, Child Sexual Abuse, Child Marriage and Corporal Punishment.
