Diode Applications : Clippers or Clipping Circuits

A clipper is an electronic circuit which is used to select and remove a certatin portion of a signal waveform depending upon a reference voltage signal.The diode is an integral part of a clipping circuit.
There are primarily 3 types of clipping circuits: 1). Positive Clipper 2). Biased Clipper 3). Combination Clipper.
