The Flush-O-Matic tutorial is the best efficient simple mob farm on YouTube giving you mob drops + ender pearls 1.8+ to 1.18
► Update: You can replace the packed ice with any normal opaque block (don't use regular ice like I say in the video as mobs can't spawn on it) - like cobble, sandstone etc... - and the farm will still work.
