Donald Trump sweeps all 5 States and declares himself the presumptive nominee
Today is Wednesday 27th April 2016 and we are reporting on Tuesday’s Primary results in Conneticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.
These 5 States provided a total of 118 Republican delegates of the then remaining 733 delegates to be gained.
This now means that Trump only requires 287 of the remaining 622 delegates therefore requiring just over 46 % to gain the nomination. Last night’s sweep led Trump to declare that he considers himself the Republican “Presumptive Nominee”. He added
"This is a far bigger win than we expected ……….. This one's a diverse victory.... Every one of them is conclusive and every state is so different,"
Ted Cruz and John Kasich’s attempt to do a deal to stop Trump may indeed have failed at the first hurdle.
