Sweet and Sour Pork
Sweet and sour pork is consists of fried pork in bite sized pieces and the sauce is the combination of sugar, white vinegar, pineapple juice, catsup and green bell pepper (capsicum) and onion. Different meats can be also used in this recipe, like breaded chicken, fish fillet and meatballs.
Sweet and sour pork is a popular Chinese dish and cooked all over the world. It is best served with steamed rice.
Sweet and Sour Pork Recipe
Ingredients
½ kilo pork meat, cut into bite size pieces
1 pack ready-mix breading
2 medium size green or red bell pepper, cut into bite sized pieces
2 medium size onion, cut into bite sized pieces
3 cloves garlic, chopped
Pineapple chunks
Sweet and sour sauce (Click link above this page for the recipe)
Cooking oil
Procedure
1. Dredge pork in the ready-mix breading.
2. Heat oil in a pan and fry pork until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Set Aside
3. In a pan heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and add garlic, onion, green bell pepper and pineapple chunks, stir until half done.
4. Add the sweet and sour sauce and the fried pork. Toss to coat pork with the sauce. Simmer for 1-2 minutes. Serve hot with steamed rice.
