Subtitles and Closed Captions are an easy way of improving your video rankings, and providing access to a more global audience.
While we can’t delve too far into the black box that is YouTube’s (or Google’s!) search algorithm, what is clear is that YouTube indexes a videos Closed Caption files. By reading a videos subtitles, YouTube can get a better understanding of the content of the video and make a more informed decision when presenting search results to a prospective viewer searching on your topic.
What does that mean? Basically, accurate Closed Captions give you the opportunity to load a ton more relevant keywords into your videos - helping with search rankings and getting your videos in front of the RIGHT audience looking for the content your video provides!
There are a few ways to get these caption files prepared - ranging from completely manual DIY in YouTube’s editor (not for me, thanks…), to automated software, and paid online solutions.
