Dieser gut erhaltene iMac G3 der 1. Generation hat sicher lange in einem Keller gestanden und wurde Ende der 1990er auch sicher entsprechend stark genutzt. Es ist noch das original Betriebssystem MacOs 8.6 von 1999 installiert mit der Anwendersoftware, die damals gekauft und benutzt wurde.
Mit diesem iMac G3 mit PowerPC-Prozessor ist Apple ab 1998 auf den Endverbrauchermarkt erfolgreich zurückgekehrt, nachdem Apple die 1990er weniger erfolgreich war. Der iMac wurde von Jony Ive designt, der von 1997 bis 2019 bei Apple der Chef-Designer war.
Unverwechselbar mit dem transparenten Gehäuse (transluzentes Plastik) in verschiedenen Farben, hier „Strawberry“, waren die iMacs unübersehbar und hatten sogar einen Tragegriff, was bei einem Gewicht von ca. 17kg aber nicht ganz leicht war.
