Today Carter Sharer and I (Stephen Sharer) decided we wanted to do an experiment and test if we can paint dry ice. We wanted to see if the paint would stick or if it would freeze and crack off the dry ice block. So we got our block of dry ice and placed it on the grass outside. We grabbed our can of spray paint and begun the test. We tried spraying the paint all over the block of dry ice. To our surprise it seems as if the paint stuck just fine. When we looked at it closer it appeared as if the paint was boiling. The paint had bubbles coming through it. Then the paint started to grow ice crystals as the paint froze solid. Carter blew on the frozen paint and it easily cracked and flaked off. It was clear that the paint did not stick to the dry ice. Next we tried to use a few different colors and leave the paint on for a much longer time to give it chance to dry.
