The real story behind the 25th anniversary LP. The 25/50 wasn't it!
The True 25th Anniversary Les Paul is not a guitar that everyone knows about. When most fans think of it, images of the 1978/1979 25/50th Anniverary LP come to mind. That guitar was built to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Les Paul Instrument and 50 years of Les in the music business. However, if you do the math, the 25/50 should actually be the 26/50 since the real 25th year is 1977 - the original Gold Tops came out in ‘52. Since that doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, they decided to keep it as 25/50..
Since Gibson was a little bit late to the punch, Guitar Center custom ordered approximately 50 – all Silver Les Paul Customs. This color was chosen because the 25th Anniversary is often referred to as the Silver Anniversary. This is the first time an all silver les paul was released – it even predates the Silverburst finish and could be responsible for the creation of it seeing as prototype silverbursts were first made in 1977 and released in 1978. The all silver finish was brought back for a few early 80s Les Pauls Too. The Silver finish turns gold/green as the lacquer ages
Besides the finish, these are often seen with the words “Les Paul” engraved in their pick guards – but not every example that has surfaced had that. The tailpiece is also extra special as It has the words – 25th Anniversary engraved on it. Besides that, this is just your standard custom of the era. Black headstock veneer with Custom emblem, ebony fretboard with maple neck. Maple top with mahogany back equipped with a Nashville bridge and reflector knobs. Tttop pickups and Gibson branded Schaller tuners with all hardware being gold. There was no special serial number one these, just the standard 8 digit one. Guitar Center also commissioned a small run of Gold LP Customs a few years later that did have a special plaque.
The only question left - Would you rock this Silver custom or not? About the Site 🌐
This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. 🎥
Origins of the Idea 🌱
The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠
Challenges Faced 🤔
Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.
Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. 🔍
Creating Truly Random Links 🛠️
The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.
About YouTube 📺
YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟
Content and Users 🎵
Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.
While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.
Monetization and Impact 🤑
YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.
As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. 📈
