Strangest Railroad Crossing Ever! Caboose Leads Train Across, Conductor Flags Traffic Video

Home
Most unusual and strangest railroad crossing ever! This railway crossing goes right through a very busy intersection on exempt track. Let me try to explain how this unusual railroad crossing works. First, it is an exempt crossing which means that commercial vehicles transporting passengers ( buses ) and hazardous material trucks or any vehicle does not have to stop unless a train is approaching. The crossing has a light at each side that stays on red for the trains to stop. The train stops at the crossing and the conductor has to get off and use a control that first turns the outer traffic signals from green to red. About 24 seconds later the inner traffic signals turn to red. Now that all of the traffic signals are red, both sides of the railroad line side signals go to green. The conductor uses a hand held radio to tell the engineer how close to the crossing that the train is and lets him know when the train is clear to cross. Once the caboose makes it through, the train stops to pick up the conductor and then proceed on its journey. After the train clears the crossing, the railroad crossing signals go to green and the traffic signals return to normal use. At this point, both of the railroad line side signals go from green to red. An Indiana & Ohio Railway employee explained this to me and told me that this is the only railroad crossing like this in Ohio. I have seen similar railroad crossings but this is the only one that has all of the components that I described. The other unusual thing is the caboose. Not only is it a caboose but it is a red caboose with a cupola! This I&O branch line ends almost 2 miles south of this crossing. The caboose was used for the long backup moves and was kept on a siding in Mason, Ohio just north of this crossing. This caboose is now owned by a private family and loaned to LM&M Railroad in Lebanon, Ohio. Trains operate on 161.385, 161.430 channel 88 and 161.220. This is in Mason, Ohio at US 42 and Tylersville Rd intersection. I have a playlist below for the Indiana And Ohio Railway ( IORY ). Thanks for watching! About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. πŸŽ₯

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced πŸ€”

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. πŸ”

Creating Truly Random Links πŸ› οΈ

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube πŸ“Ί

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎡

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact πŸ€‘

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. πŸ“ˆ
