https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKPMyPJkOTsHi Everyone Sandman Here,
This is a quick update about Sargon of Akkad recently being banned from Patreon and now we are starting to see edgier content producers going into panic mode trying to find an alternative for crowdfunding. So everyone including myself is migrating over to something called Subscribe Star. It's a Patreon alternative. I think it's important for all of use that haven't been banned by Patreon for whatever reason to get pro-active versus re-active when it comes to protecting our income. Three weeks ago I lost all the ad revenue on my YouTube channel. Many people were saying they, whoever THEY are were going to go after Patreon next. I'm not leaving Patreon. But I'm just letting you know that if you're supporting me on Patreon to consider Subscribe Star as an alternative. I don't honestly think that Subscribe Star is going to last past a few years because Stripe, their payment processor might pull out. But odds are that they will last longer for MGTOW channels than Patreon will. Tim Pool says that he received a call from Patreon yesterday and says they were trying to make sure that he was going to continue using his platform. I'm not sure after they called Tim after he released his video discussing what happened to Sargon. Perhaps it's damage control on their part. But Tim originally had 1850 subscribers on Patreon and that dropped by over twenty percent to 1550 in a day. Perhaps Patreon fears that other people are going to start migrating away from Patreon. Not only the ones criticial of the left, feminists and social justice but others as well. Before yesterday no one even knew about Subscribe Star. Now we have Sargon, Computing Forever, Tim Pool, Styxhexandhammer666, TFM, DDJ, and Myself moving there. I believe that Patreon shot themselves in the foot. They didn't even send Sargon a reason for cancelling him. No cancellation email or anything. Ironically as I script this he has eight hundred subscribers on SubscribeStar and is probably making five to six thousand dollars month on there. He was making eleven thousand on Patreon. He just made their site viable and popular.
About the Site π
This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. π₯
Origins of the Idea π±
The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. π§
Challenges Faced π€
Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.
Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. π
Creating Truly Random Links π οΈ
The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.
About YouTube πΊ
YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. π
Content and Users π΅
Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.
While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.
Monetization and Impact π€
YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.
As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. π
