Science Documentary: Personalized Medicine, Synthetic Biology a documentary on genetic design
Within our DNA lies the instructions for our cells. These cellular codes we do not yet completely understand. But if we could, we would then be able to use this information to transform healthcare.
Personalized medicine is the method by which specific healthcare is genetically designed for each individual based on their own DNA.
Instead of relying on a single form of medicine to treat a wide number of patients, Doctors will soon be able to tailor treatment based upon a patients genetic background.
Since no two patients are exactly the same, no medicine would be exactly the same.
Doctors test various drugs to determine how they affect certain organs in the body. The number of tests such as these would be greatly reduced with the help of personalized medicine, since we would already be aware of its effects on certain patients.
Hippocrates once said, "It is far more important to know the person who has the disease, than to know the disease the person has."
Since we know that drugs act differently on each person, Doctors can prescribe personalized medicine designed for each individual patient.
Synthetic biology is the manipulation of genetic material for various purposes, and has several disciplines, yet the most fascinating would include the creation of artificial life. A synthetic organism is completely constructed of unnatural components. Though we may call it artificial life by definition, scientists would argue that in actuality, synthetic biology is simply life creating life.
Synthetic biology can be used in the field of medicine in various useful aspects. One way would be by creating enzymes to make synthetic compounds instead of producing them chemically, there by reducing the adverse effects it may have on the environment in the form of waste. Curing diseases such as cancer is another hope that scientists have for synthetic biology. Bacteria could be designed to attack only cancer cells, while leaving healthy cells alone.

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. π₯
Origins of the Idea π±
The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. π§
Challenges Faced π€
Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.
Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. π
Creating Truly Random Links π οΈ
The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.
About YouTube πΊ
YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. π
Content and Users π΅
Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.
While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.
Monetization and Impact π€
YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.
As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. π
