The current flowing in the thyristor does not become zero at zero crossing for an inductive load. The current will continue to flow till energy stored in the inductor is transferred to the AC supply system. If the triggering angle is more than 90 degrees (gate pulse given after 90 degrees), then a DC current will flow even with an AC source.
The difference in current in thyristor, silicon controlled rectifier ( SCR ) due to resistor and inductor is explained and compared with Mosfet current. Thyristor current is compared with a current in Mosfet with a resistor load.
