It may be because they are the ones who clean up the mess for a hero who acts before thinking, sometimes the sidekick does the work for the hapless hero, and sometimes their loyalty and resilience make us latch onto their story instead of the hero. Whatever the reason is, sometimes the sidekicks are just better than the heroes.
