The Case!
This Instrument retains its original Gibson Hardshell case. Both latches function perfectly and the combo lock is still factory fresh. The case is in clean shape with just light storage/usage wear. There is a small part of the interior that has come loose at the curve of the body. The COA and prepack checklist are still inside of the case.
The Guitar! 6lbs 12.1oz | Medium Rounded Neck
The Modern Flying V is the most controversial Gibson guitar produced in 2018. It is a take off of the mid-90s Jackson Roswell Rhoads design that was available in limited number in the mid-90s. Those have aluminum bodies and are even pointier - but so are their prices tags! It takes $9k to pick one of those originals up!
The Modern Flying V was offered in Ebony Prism (Purple Prism,) Silver Prism and Gold Prism. I really enjoy this gold one. It is nice a fancy all while being futuristic. These are very comfortable to play standing and are light on your shoulder.
Stock, these guitars come with the Gibson 496R, 500T hot ceramic pickups.
This one is all original and in great cosmetic shape. It has light signs of usage such as marks and picking scratches on the pickguard. There are two finish checking lines running along the sides of the neck joint. This is where the lacquer has sunk into the joint line and it will eventually happen to all of these. It is not apparent along the whole heel, only on the sides. This is the reason why this highly collectible guitar is priced so well. It plays and sounds fantastic! Check the video!
Conclusion
Overall, the Modern Flying V is a controversial, but highly collectible model. Only 33 were made of each color and it appears all the new ones have sold. The prices will only continue to go up on these - but besides their collectible value, they look great and sound even better - these are a joy to have around!
