Castlewellan Forest Park & Peace Maze; Lake, Castle & Walks, Video

Home
From Castlewellan Forest Park, you can see the most amazing mountains in Ireland - Slieve Donard, the Mourne Mountains for example; create a beautiful backdrop (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ifbi19Z4Czs).

Castlewellan has an impressive castle in the grounds that is private, but does have functions on from time to time. There is a great mountain bike track, excellent walks around the forest and lakes. Finally - of course - the Peace Maze, one of the world's largest permanent hedge mazes. Great fun!!

The castle which the forest park is part of and which is located in Castlewellan as well (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKV4w8rMzAA) is an old building that has been standing there for a long period of time and is part of a group of centres known as Centre Ministries which is used for specific needs related to fulfilling the Christian needs, but apart from that, the forest park is a public place that people tend to visit and have some good time there as well as enjoy the famous Peace Maze.

The interesting thing about this maze found inside the forest is that after it was first commissioned in 1998 and in 2000 and 2001, lots of school children attended community planting days in order to help in planting the 6,000 yew trees which were supposed to take part in this maze.

Looking at the maze from above - which we tried to bring with the drone in this video - you will realize that there is a design for this maze and it was not just done haphazardly, but it was actually taken from different designs drawn by children.

There are lots of different forest parks in Ireland and Northern Ireland and we have been to several ones before, some of them are considered important for the local residents while others became more of touristic attractions and tend to attract a lot of tourists every single year, just like the case of castlewellan Forest Park which is one of the fastest growing tourist attractions in Northern Ireland for the maze that is found in it and which used to be the largest permanent hedge maze in the world until 2007 before the Pineapple Garden Maze in Hawaii opened.

The most interesting thing about this maze - which is the most important feature of the park - is that it is not just a place for people to walk through, but it is actually a place for them to solve and once they reach the centre, there is a bell for them to ring, this bell is one of the most frequently rung bells in Ireland, with over a million ring during the year.

In addition to the Peace Maze, there are different other features to mention when it comes to Castlewellan Forest Park, such as the amazing view it could offer for some of the mountains in Ireland like the Slieve Donard Mountain or the Mourne Mountains in general, the Castlewellan Lake which is inside the park and close enough to the castle itself, and the different trails which one could choose from and follow and which also include the bike trail that the forest park offers.

While walking through the garden, I witnessed the different flowers which are found there and scattered across the land - which is another thing that made me fall in love with the place and enjoy walking around it. This garden was built and created in a different style, it is a mixture of terraces, ornamental gates, fountains, as well as those flower borders, which all gave it another feeling and a different atmosphere.

Apart from all that, Castlewellan Forest Park is a perfect choice for the kids to play since recently a new play structure has been installed, the Animal Wood is installed just beside the Peace Maze and is made for children from 4 to 11 years old, providing different opportunities for playing on wild woodland animals that include a badger and its den, a red squirrel and a giant spider. This playing area for the kids also carries a wooden play structure with a tower in the image of The Moorish Tower where the children could enjoy climbing the wall, fireman's pole and rope bridge over to a hollow tree stump slide and Red Kite nest.

In addition to this forest park which could be a perfect destination for all the different members of the family, there are other parks which Connolly Cove got the chance to visit as well and check what they carry. From those different parks and gardens which we have been to before, there is the Tollymore Forest in Newcastle, county Down in Northern Ireland, which is also a big one and a place that the whole family could enjoy being at (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-Ci0XNYrnM), Ulster American Folk Park in Northern Ireland is another option with a story to be told which we also recommend (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zX0oaJA5Uf4), or choose Glenariff Forest Park with its waterfall trail (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DoUGw5mMUE).

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. πŸŽ₯

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced πŸ€”

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. πŸ”

Creating Truly Random Links πŸ› οΈ

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube πŸ“Ί

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎡

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact πŸ€‘

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. πŸ“ˆ
