Hello my loves! I was planning just to work on deep cleaning my laundry room but once I got started, I decided that area could do with a small makeover and definitely a refresh.
I have spent a few days reorganising my laundry room. As always, I shopped my home before buying anything. We repurposed an old rack and IKEA shelf (LACK) and also moved the small cabinet to a different wall.
I hope you enjoy the video and get some tips for your own laundry are. I am actually trying to cut back on the chemical detergents I use around the house. I am NOT going “green” but I just find that vinegar and baking soda are better than any chemicals in certain ways. So here are a few homemade aids I have started using:
To clean Washing Machine
2 tablespoons of baking soda in the detergent compartment and 2 cups of vinegar in the drum.
Run on a 60⁰ wash cycle.
Also use some vinegar mixed with hot water to wipe the rubber seal thoroughly.
This removes odour from the machine which transfers on to the clothes. The baking soda and vinegar also naturally break up mineral deposits and any mould present while cleaning and refreshing your washing machine.
Repeat as often as you deem needed.
Keep colors from running
Soak new coloured garments to help them retain their colour longer.
Before washing for the first time, soak garments in a bucket with one part water and one part white vinegar for 20 minutes.
Washing Towels
Towels often lose their absorbency if treated with fabric softener because of the soap build up.
Use a mixture of detergent and baking soda for washing and softener and vinegar for conditioning.
Also makes a lot of difference if you dry towels on a line until almost dry and finish up drying in the dryer.
