So if you haven't heard...YouTube is making some MASSIVE changes for real! lol
The YouTube big wigs have decided to make some changes to their monetization and ad policy.
What did they do?
YouTube made 2 big changes:
1. Channels that want to advertise and monetize their channels must have at least 1000 subscribers AND 4000 watch hours over the last 12 months (yea that's a trailing 12 months just in case you missed that lol)
It used to be that a channel only needed 10,000 total lifetime views to qualify.
2. YouTube will be hiring 10,000 real people to manually review videos from creators who are in the Google Preferred program. That program is for the big time YouTuber's who have massive audiences and where they get their money. Mostly for the top 5% of YouTuber's
Why make changes?
YouTube has been getting crazy public heat for some of the content that has been posted onto their platform by big name Youtubers. Big name YouTube video vloggers like Logan Paul and PewDiePie kinda forced YouTube's hands.
Which means smaller creators and video marketers will be the one to suffer the most as this post from The Guardian explains.

If you're a vlogger or YouTube marketer who makes their money from ad revenue from YouTube or you're looking at that model as your source of income, that's going to be challenging going forward.
As far as online marketers in affiliate marketing or network marketing or concerned, the impact will be less. YouTube monetization adsense and running YouTube ads may be difficult however.
But in general, as internet marketers, YouTube is not the primary mode of income. Online marketers use YouTube as a traffic source.
