Jesus Camp: How religious trauma made me suicidal
NEW: Part 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf48adFetwYSharing about my experience at Jesus camp. It was more like military training, the pastors called it, "Jesus Boot Camp." Years later, I realized I had been brainwashed and part of a cult. Finding my voice -- using it and shining a light on pastors who abused their power to harm others in the name of their god -- now, being an outspoken atheist and finally exposing this part of my past is liberating.

A couple weeks ago I made a video on being indoctrinated and molested. I briefly mentioned my Jesus Boot Camp experience and a few of you wanted to hear that story.
This video gets graphic and I want to say again, that I do not support the damaging idea of self-harm. I used self-harm to escape a cult. Being indoctrinated, only being exposed to bad ideas planted quite a few in my head. I honestly saw self-harm as my only way out of the situation I was in.
Hope you guys are doing well and let me know if you'd like to hear me talk more about how harmful I think religion is.
*** Side note - I absolutely hate that I have the typo "refering" at 2:25... "referring." *facepalm... as a person who loves words as much as I do, that looks horrible. Ugh.. anyway... here's Wonderwall... lol...
I got to speak with Seth Andrews from The Thinking Atheist a couple years ago about this story:

About the Site ๐
This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. ๐ฅ
Origins of the Idea ๐ฑ
The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. ๐ง
Challenges Faced ๐ค
Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.
Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. ๐
Creating Truly Random Links ๐ ๏ธ
The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.
About YouTube ๐บ
YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. ๐
Content and Users ๐ต
Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.
While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.
Monetization and Impact ๐ค
YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.
As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. ๐
