Ingredients
Sambar powder:
Coriander seeds - 2 tsp
Urad Dal - 1 tsp
Chana dal - 1 tsp
Cumin - 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1/8 tsp
Pepper - 1/4 tsp
Red chilies - 2
coconut pieces - 1/4 cup
1 cup onion
2 small tomato chopped
2 cups radish chopped
Salt to taste
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 cup cooked toor dal
1/4 cup of tamarind extract
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Oil and water to cook
For seasoning:
1/2 tsp mustard
1/2 tsp cumin
a pinch of asafoetida
Curry Leaves few
How to cook Mullangi Sambar - Radish Sambar Recipe
Step 1: Dry roast all the ingredients listed under sambar powder. Once aromatic, transfer to a blender and make fine powder
Step 2: Add pearl onions and saute till tender
Step 3: add chopped tomatoes and cook till soft
Step 4: Add sliced radish,turmeric powder and salt. Cook for few minutes
Step 5: Add tamarind juice andrequired amount of water. Simmer for 5 minutes
Step 6: After the ingredients are cooked add 1 cup of boiled toor dhal and the prepared sambar powder
Step 7: Bring to boil and add coriander leaves.
Prepare the seasoning
Step 8: Add 1 tbsp ghee on a heated pan. Add 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida and saute for a minute. Add curry leaves.
