Today is Wednesday 9th November 2016 and we can report that Hillary Clinton has just conceded to Donald Trump.
With Trump at the time of recording just a few votes away from the essential 270 votes and a few States still to announce, Hillary Clinton has just conceded to Donald Trump via phone call. The Republicans now control not only the Presidency, but also The Senate and the Congress.
Donald Trump can now implement the policies which he has promised, unabated, and with the full force of the US Government and Institutions behind him.
In his Acceptance Speech, Trump gave credit to Clinton’s hard fought campaign and has said that he will be a President for all of the people and he asks for all sides to unite.
He has pledged improved jobs, improved infrastructure and recognition of the veterans. He said he will ‘double our growth and be the strongest economy in the world’.
He further promised to seek common ground as opposed to hostility with other countries. His speech was cautious and he has clearly been advised that whatever he says, will now have an impact on markets around the world.
Dow Futures, which initially fell 5% are currently showing a fall of 2.4% and the S&P down 2.7%, where these will go when markets re-open is anyone’s guess – much now depends on the rhetoric from the Trump camp and the policies they state they are going to introduce during the coming weeks.
Gold moved from $1270 yesterday to a high of $1330 and has now settled for the moment at $1307 after his conciliatory speech. Silver moved from $18.20, peaked at $18.92 and currently rests at $18.66. The dollar index has fallen 0.75 to 97.10.
The question on everyone’s lips, is, will this now be the catalyst to crash the markets or just a temporary blip while Trump follows traditional Establishment policies? We shall wait and see.
