I have some important things to say about partner companies and your trust in my opinion. Make sure you watch till the end because it’s important that you know what’s going on.

### Honesty and Trust ###
For me, the most important thing about working with partner companies is that I’m honest with you, my viewers, and that I keep your trust. You should know what’s going on when I review a product and you should be able to trust in the honesty of my opinion on it.
So whenever I’ve reviewed a product I’ve given you my honest opinion. When I got a product for free or at a reduced price I told you about it. And I’ll keep it that way.
### Freedom of opinion ###
When companies ask me if I’d be interested in using one of their products I tell them clearly that I’m going to publish my honest opinion. If they’re not fine with that, I’m not going to accept the product.
### Legal questions ###
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve spent many hours working my way into the legal side of these partnerships, the topic here is called „influencer marketing“. I’ve read a lot, listened to podcasts and watched videos by lawyers explaining what’s important about it.
But – A couple of things became clear: When I review a product that I got for free or at a reduced price, I need to mark the video as „Advertisement“ by German law. This is what I’ve done. For you, it’s important to understand that you still get my honest opinion and that the term „Advertisement“ is there for legal reasons.
The same is true when a product, that I got for free, gets more than normal attention in a video. What that means (what’s more than normal attention?) is not always easy to decide so I’m usually cautious. An example of this you can see in my swivel cabinet video (
https://youtu.be/3xMJXwxNspc?t=3m42s) – this wasn’t a paid ad but I thought that the jig I was showing gets some attention and that it would be safe to mark this section of the video as advertising.
Again: When you see the term „Advertising“ it doesn’t mean I was paid to make the video. It just means that I got the product for free or cheaper and that the product gets more attention in the video than just normal use. I have to show this label because of German law not because the video is a real ad.
