【イントロダクション】
「銀河英雄伝説」は、遙か未来の宇宙を舞台にしたSF小説です。
数々のヒット作を生み出した人気作家、田中芳樹の代表作で、1982年に第1巻が刊行されて以来、本伝10巻、外伝5巻の大長篇小説として、累計1500万部のセールスを記録。今なお増刷が続いています。1988年からはアニメシリーズが本伝110話、外伝52話、長篇3作という圧倒的なボリュームで展開され、さらに多くのファンを獲得しました。
そして、2018年4月、ProductionI.Gが改めて新作アニメーションとして 「銀河英雄伝説 Die Neue These」を制作 。新たな声優陣、最新の技術での艦隊戦、新たな解釈で描かれた本作は、テレビにてファーストシーズン（第1話～第12話）そしてセカンドシーズンとなる「星乱」（第13話～第24話）が2019年に映画館でイベント上映。銀河英雄伝説ファンのみならず、幅広いアニメファンに話題となりました。

【ストーリー】
数千年後の未来、宇宙空間に進出した人類は、銀河帝国と、自由惑星同盟という
“専制政治”と“民主主義”という２つの異なる政治体制を持つ二国に分かれた。
この二国家の抗争は実に150年に及び、際限なく広がる銀河を舞台に、
絶えることなく戦闘が繰り返されてきた。
長らく戦争を続ける両国家。銀河帝国は門閥貴族社会による腐敗が、
自由惑星同盟では民主主義の弊害とも言える衆愚政治が両国家を蝕んでいた。
そして、宇宙暦8世紀末、ふたりの天才の登場によって歴史は動く。
「常勝の天才」ラインハルト・フォン・ローエングラムと、「不敗の魔術師」と呼ばれるヤン・ウェンリーである。
ふたりは帝国軍と同盟軍を率い、何度となく激突する。
