Released in 1997 (original xi version was released in 1991, the second in 1994 then the RS in 97) the Minolta 28-105mm F3.5-4.5 RS was a relatively affordable lens which is often overlooked. It was replaced in 2000 with the better known 24-105mm; however there are some advantages to the older lens as I find out.
This in depth real world review highlights the lens performance and weaker points so you can decide if it's worth looking at. With the E mount bodies this could also make for a low cost lens alternative to the Sony FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS (using an adapter)If you want a longer focal range and faster lens speed
