Was heute Windows 10 ist, war Anfang der 1990er Windows 3.11. Das ultimative Standard-Windows für PCs und Notebooks. Wie man im Video sieht, ist das Installieren von DOS und Windows 3.11 gar nicht schwer, auch wenn der Diskettenstapel etwas verwirrend aussieht.

In dem PC im Video ist ein DOM eingebaut, also ein „Disk On Module“ Flash-Speicher, ähnlich einer SSD, allerdings mit IDE / ATAPI Anschluss. Dieser Flash-Speicher beschleunigt das System genau wie eine SSD sehr stark. Allerdings war auch mit einer Festplatte die Installation von DOS 6.22 und Windows 3.11 ähnlich schnell oder langsam, wie die Installation von Windows 10 auf heutigen PC-Systemen und Laptops.

Eine Gaming-Grafikkarte im aktuellen Sinn gab es damals nicht. Die eingebaute Trident ISA-Grafikkarte war schon eine Grafikkarte der Oberklasse für den ISA-Bus und die Spiele liefen im DOS-Modus mit Vesa-Grafikkartentreiber.
