Would You Rock Or Not? Ep.24 | 1980s Gibson Les Paul Custom Charcoal Metallic Olive Green Video

Home
The 80s was a birth place to many interesting color options from Gibson. Some of the most notable finishes from this time frame are Metallic Sunset, Pearl White, Goldburst, Ferrari Red and lastly Charcoal Metallic. The former is the topic of today’s video. However, this example is not being featured souly for its rare finish, but because of the way the finish has aged.

This once gun metal gray custom has taken on more of a Green appearance due to the aging of the lacquer. Similar to how a silverburst turns into a ‘snot burst’ this one has turned into an olive. It really reminds me of some of the drab green Les Pauls the Custom Shop has turn out.

The binding has turned yellow as has the face of the headstock. This guitar has really taken on a whole new appearance from its original color.

Charcoal Metallic is a finish that is quite hard for collector’s to obtain in perfect condition. The metallic nature of the finish makes it very prone to finish checking. You can see this has happened in some very inopportune areas on this particular example. It is also very common to see many of these gun metal gray customs to sport a Kahler tremolo unit on them. If you get past those hurdles, usually there is extensive finish wear to the neck. Finding a perfect one of these can be quite tricky – add in the fact this finish was only offered for a few short years and you can begin to understand why it can be a ‘holy grail’ for collectors.

This Custom is offered for sale by Gothic City Guitars on Reverb.com. If you can get past the fact that this one is a factory 2nd and has some finish checking in all the wrong areas, it’s a fairly nice example.

The only question left - Would you rock this Olive or not? Leave your answer down in the comments section below .and Regardless of how you feel about this custom please leave a like and share the video around if you enjoyed it. About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. 🎥

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced 🤔

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. 🔍

Creating Truly Random Links 🛠️

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube 📺

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎵

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact 🤑

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. 📈
