As with the RAM diesel, the Ford diesel started its life in Europe under the hoods of Ford's former luxury brands from Europe where it's helped power Land Rovers up mountains and across fields. Ford took the basic engine design, reworked it for truck duty and mated it to their latest 10-speed automatic for improved towing and hauling ability.
