The Supreme Court of India recently struck down provisions of the archaic Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, thereby decriminalizing homosexuality in India. This was a great decision and was long due, and it was a real cause for celebration for all of India and that is what was expected when the Delhi Pride Parade was organized in November. However, in a parade designed to celebrate love, one could see a distinct strain of hatred towards one particular community: The Hindus. And to top it off, there was no condemnation of Islam or Christianity, which vehemently oppose homosexuality. Why? Intersectionality might hold the answer.
