This easy balti dal with desi tarka has makes a fabulous weekday meal. Balti Dal are brown chickpeas that have been split and skinned/polished. They have the same earthy nutty flavor profile as brown chickpeas(which are also called bengal gram, Kala chana in Hindi). You can use split yellow peas or split pigeon peas to make this recipe as well.
Ingredients
2 cup Split chickpeas (Chana Dal)
Half cup red split lentil
2 medium onion
1 tablespoons ginger garlic
1 cup green coriander
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
Half teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon all spices
(For Desi Tarka)
Half onion
2 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 tablespoons green coriander
(For Garnish)
2 tablespoons green coriander
1 green chilli
5 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoons ginger
