Parallels Desktop vs VMware Fusion Review | Best Mac Apps Video

Home
The Best Virtual Machines for Mac go head to head in our in-depth review, comparing eGPU support, raw performance, gaming and features.

TEST MACHINE
VM - Windows 10, 4 Cores, 8GB RAM.
2018 15" MacBook Pro, 2.2GHz i7, 32GB RAM, Radeon 555X/VII.

WHERE TO BUY
Parallels Desktop: https://vtudio.com/a/?parallels
VMware Fusion: https://vtudio.com/a/?s=vmware+fusion

FEATURES
They both support install Mac on Mac, Widows on Mac, Linux on Mac. They both let you create VMs from each other. However, in my testing building a VMware VM from a Parallels VM had driver issues. Parallels has more features, including very useful ones such as auto-pause when not in use.

PERFORMANCE
Parallels was faster in starting up and shutting down. It also scored higher in 3D benchmarks such as 3DMark, and could go even higher as it supported the use of eGPUs. Parallels also performed about twice as fast as VMware in network tests too.

VMware did however score higher in Geekbench 4, but interestingly, Parallels Desktop felt a lot slicker to actually use. VMware felt sluggish especially when typing into Chrome where the keys would appear delayed.

GAMING
Both only supported DirectX 10, however Parallels Desktop ran much more games in testing with VMware reporting more incompatibility issues.

INTERESTING NOTES
VMware required a phone home to their servers every now and then, otherwise the app would not launch.

OVERALL
They're both great VMs, however Parallels Desktop 14 is not only the smoother VM to use, it's also cheaper too.

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. πŸŽ₯

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced πŸ€”

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. πŸ”

Creating Truly Random Links πŸ› οΈ

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube πŸ“Ί

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎡

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact πŸ€‘

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. πŸ“ˆ
