https://www.stridewise.com/frye-jones-lace-up-boot-review Historically Frye is known for putting out rugged men's boots but I wanted to take a look at one of their dressier options, the Jones Lace Up.
The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated show company in the United States and they've made boots for Richard Nixon, General George S. Patton, and legions of soldiers in World War 2.
LEATHER
The most striking thing about these boots is definitely the leather. It's full grain, vegetable tanned calfskin leather that has some fantastic depth of color straight out of the box.
Calfskin leather wrinkles more finely than cowhide and ounce for ounce, it may have more tensile strength.
The downside is that this leather is super delicate. It scratches really easily, gets spots on it if it catches random grime or liquid on the street, and you can't wear it in rain.
These are dress boots, though, so you might not see that as a downside. Just don't consider these work boots.
LEATHER CARE
A customer service rep from Frye sternly warned me against wearing these out in the rain or snow. They're just too delicate for that.
They're even too delicate for your standard horsehair brush. Instead, you're going to want to use a soft buffing cloth to get rid of dirt and grime, and every few months you should condition them with a light coating of leather cream.
Venetian shoe cream will probably work fine, but if you use Frye's own leather cream they'll replace the boots if the cream results in discoloration or defect, so you might want to get your conditioning products from them.
SOLE
The sole is mostly leather with a little bit of rubber on the heel. There's absolutely no grip and I legit feared for my life when walking down stairs in these shoes. The grip improves a little bit as they wear in, but I still never feel confident when I'm walking in these boots outside.
This isn't such an issue if you treat them like dress boots and just wear them from your front door to your car to your office.
The main reason I didn't love the sole is that within the first week of wear, one of the threads on the bottom of the shoe came loose. Bad.
FIT & SIZING
These run pretty true to size. Most boots run large and you need to order a size down, so most of my boots are a size 11 when I'm actually closer to an 11.75. My Frye boots were an 11.5.
Note that there's just one width available (D) so folks with wider or thin feet are out of luck.
PRICE
$348 on Frye's site, but they're cheaper on Amazon. Check out my review for an Amazon link with the best price.

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. π₯
Origins of the Idea π±
The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. π§
Challenges Faced π€
Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.
Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. π
Creating Truly Random Links π οΈ
The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.
About YouTube πΊ
YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. π
Content and Users π΅
Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.
While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.
Monetization and Impact π€
YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.
As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. π
