This build was a challenge for me. I wanted to learn how to make a headdress, overcome all the difficulties and most importantly pay a tribute to the traditions and craft of the Native Americans I admired as a child. I know the importance of the headdress for Indians and the honor it is to have one or wear one, so please don't see in this video any disrespect for the culture or traditions of Native Americans, as I only mean to show respect and admiration for their craft.

This video is the third part of a full tutorial "How to make a Native American Headdress / War Bonnet". In this third part, I'm making the bonnet for the headdress.
I used hide to make this bonnet. The most important part of this build is to make it the right size. So I had to resize my mannequin head for that, using the Andy Birkey's Skullcap. It gave me the perfect size for my head.
Then, it's just a matter of making a pattern, cutting the hide and sewing (gluing is optional but helps a lot). If the bonnet turns out to be a little too tight, you can wet and stretch it. Don't forget to put a fair amount of oil to keep the leather soft and flexible.
