Comencemos pues con la leccion. Vamos a diferenciar el tema de "Acuerdo" Agree en la primer seccion y en la segunda parte del video trataremos el "Desacuerdo" Disagree. En español cuando mostramos afinidad con alguien decimos “yo también” o “yo tampoco” generalmente, dependiendo del contexto. En inglés las cosas cambian un poco pues tenemos ciertas reglas a seguir de acuerdo a los diferentes tiempos en que se comunican con nosotros.
En resumen:
“So”: Cuando respondemos a una oración afirmativa (También)
“Neither”: Cuando respondemos a una oración negativa (Tampoco)
Hasta aquí todo bien ¿cierto?, pero ¿qué es eso de usar los auxiliares del tiempo en que se habla?
Vamos a ver la explicación práctica mediante algunos ejemplos usando cada uno de estos tiempos. Nótese que la contestación es únicamente en primera persona.
Acuerdo con oraciones afirmativas
“So” + Auxiliary verb + Pronoun.
Ejemplos:
- I am a good student. (Yo soy un buen estudiante)
- So am I.(Yo también)
- I was at work this morning. (Yo estaba en el trabajo esta mañana)
- So was I. (Yo también)
- I go to the church on Sundays.(Yo voy a la iglesia los domingos)
- So do I. (Yo también)
- I watched the game yesterday. (Yo miré el juego ayer)
- So did I.(Yo también)
- I can play the guitar. (Yo puedo tocar la guitarra)
- So can I.(Yo también)
Como se puede observar en estos ejemplos, en estar de acuerdo con otra persona influye mucho el tiempo en que se expresó la persona original. No hay un “yo también” universal como es el caso del español.
Notese tambien y mucho cuidado con la declaracion de acuerdo que es "So am I" no "So I am" un equivoco bastante comun en mis clases.
Proseguimos con Acuerdo con oraciones negativas
Ahora, al expresar acuerdo con oraciones negativas tenemos la siguiente estructura.
“Neither” + Auxiliary verb + Pronoun
Ejemplos:
- I am not a good student.(Yo no soy un buen estudiante)
- Neither am I. (Yo tampoco)
- I was not at work this morning. (Yo no estaba en el trabajo esta mañana)
- Neither was I.(Yo tampoco)
