GM and Michelin introduced the “Michelin Uptis Prototype” at the Movin’On Summit for sustainable mobility on Tuesday, June 4 in Montreal. Uptis stands for “Unique Puncture-proof Tire System,” according to a news release from GM.
The automaker says it intends to develop this technology with Michelin on the working goal to introduce it on passenger vehicles by 2024.
Later this year, GM will start “real-world testing and validation" of a Michelin Uptis prototype with a Michigan-based fleet of Chevy Bolt EVs.
