in 2016, the BJP government made some changes to Indian Citizenship Bill 1955, which would allow 6 persecuted minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to come to India and apply for citizenship without the fear of being deported. A lot of people have complained that this is a bigoted change by the government and it discriminates against Muslim refugees from that country and goes against article 14 of the Constitution.
While I see their point, I also present a case as to why article 14 allows for cases of positive discrimination, and the Dharmic duty that India has, as the last refuge of the Hindus and Sikhs of the world. For too long, Hindus have been far too timid to assert themselves and their identity, but I think that needs to stop now.
