Gee! So much to do in the summertime! Playing with the little animals! Chasing the butterflies! Collecting grasshoppers! Looking for pollywogs! Digging for worms! Catching the leaping frogs! And taking a plunge in the cold, cold river! I like feeling the heat of the sun on my hair and the summer breeze against my face. I like smelling the pine forest and feeling the logs under my bare feet. I like climbing on the rocks and finding big sticks to throw. If only this could last a lifetime!
When I wrote "In the Summertime," I wanted the Summer to never go away. You know it's funny, but music can be like Summer. It can help you remember the nice places you have been.
