The brains power to process information far exceeds that of any computer at the present moment, but in the future that could all change. What separates human beings from all other species is the complexity of our brains. We can adapt to our environments and learn and pass our culture on to our offspring and all this complexity originates in our minds. By understanding the brain through the study of neuroscience we begin to better understand who we are.

If we can understand the software of the brain, the better we can interface with it. And if we can understand the software of the brain, the better we can interface with it. And if we can understand the software or codes that make up the brain, then we could be able to recreate the brain.

First we would need to learn the details and intricate circuitry of the brain before we could be able to create a computer that has similar sophistication.

As the advances in technology increases in the coming years, we will have robots integrated more and more in our normal daily lives. Whereas, at the present time, we have robots performing tasks in manufacturing plants and other industries, soon we will have better thinking or smarter robots to help in our homes with various tasks, when we finally reach this point in creating brain systems for use in computers and robots it will be an enormous boost to the world economy.

Although scientists have high hopes for creating brain systems for computers and machines, there are still many obstacles. As humans, we have evolved to use our vision very efficiently. By simply looking at a picture or photo, we can decipher many things about that picture that a computer would find very difficult to do.
Creating artificial neural networks is a huge task that has been intriguing to researchers who long to bridge the gap between neuroscience and computer science.

Much in the same way machines and electronics can be reverse engineered to understand how to create such things. So to can those things found in nature also be reverse engineered. Some of the original methods used for reverse engineering the brain were by using the tungsten microelectrode. By placing the electrode next to the neurons and then listening to the electrical firing of the cells.

Quantum information and the brain. The debate withing the scientific community is whether or not there is a connection between quantum mechanics and cognition.

Quantum mechanics can be thought of in terms of a generalization of the laws of probability. Yet, on the quantum scale, shooting photons or electrons through two slits in a screen reveals a pattern unlike what you would get in a larger scale experiment. You get the photons scattered all over, not just where the two slits were made. This is due to the fact that objects on the quantum scale act like particles and like waves. You can measure the probability
of were a quantum particle may be but the very act of measuring changes the experiment.

Quantum computers have the ability to compute or process faster than a standard computer. In a standard computer, a bit can be either a 0 or 1. But a q-bit can be both a 0 or a 1 at the same time. Quantum computers for simulating problems in quantum physics may be one of the most practical uses for quantum computers. Although the popular belief that a quantum computer could simultaneously process all possible answers to a problem an instantly pick the right answer is not possible.

Another debate in quantum physics is whether the brain could be a quantum computer, and also whether or not consciousness is needed to collapse quantum probabilities into reality. Whereas both sides offer equally strong arguments, the fact is that we still have a lot to learn about quantum mechanics and consciousness.
