The York Regional Police Homicide Unit is appealing for the driver of a vehicle to come forward as part of an ongoing homicide investigation in the Town of Newmarket.
Investigators have been working to determine where the accused, Ali NADDERI, went following the murder of 20-year-old Alyssa LIGHTSTONE. They believe that the accused approached an unknown man at a car wash in the area of Davis Drive and Alexander Road and requested a ride. The unknown man allowed NADDERI into his vehicle and drove away from the area. Investigators are releasing an image of the vehicle that unknown man was driving and are appealing for him to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation. The man is not considered a suspect.

On Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 7:20 a.m., police were called to an apartment located at 75 Huron Heights Drive, which is in the area of Davis Drive and Leslie Street. When officers arrived they found a female who was deceased. She was identified as 20-year-old Alyssa LIGHTSTONE, from the Town of Richmond Hill. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot.
On Monday, July 23, 2018, shortly after 2:30 a.m., the suspect turned himself into police at #1 District Headquarters in the Town of Newmarket.
