Tiger Woods comeback after SPINAL FUSION surgery was truly an amazing feat of athleticism and perseverance. Some may say that when Tiger Woods won the Masters Championship in 2019, that they was one of the greatest sports comebacks of all time.
Tiger Woods recently won the 2019 Masters Championship tournament. He won the Masters after recovering from his fourth back surgery, a lumbar spinal fusion. Previously, he had undergone microdiscectomies, and a formal spinal decompression, all unsuccessfully. Tiger Woods had been crippled by pain and was forced to undergo a fourth operation on his back. This doesn't even include all of the other surgeries and issues that he has had over the years, including cartilage damage in his knee, an ACL tear and subsequent ACL reconstruction, not to mention a string of bad luck and poor choices including extra-marital affairs, a car accident, divorce from his wife, and his father dying. Tiger Woods struggled through all of these issues and yet, he has managed to complete what may amount to the greatest comeback of all time! For your information, spinal fusion is a surgical procedure used to correct problems with the small bones in the spine (vertebrae). It is essentially a "welding" process. The basic idea is to fuse together two or more vertebrae so that they heal into a single, solid bone. It is not a small surgery, though the surgeon who performed the spinal fusion on Tiger Woods used a new approach which helped him heal faster. It obviously worked - hence his comeback! As Michael Jordan himself said, Tiger Woods comeback is 'the greatest I've ever seen'. I may have to agree.
