This is Samantha from EventMB and today we are going to talk about the 5 most common questions that event planners always get asked.

As an event planner your career is exciting to many but it can get tiresome answering the same questions over and over again. Some questions show people’s interest and intrigue, some are pure ignorance (as people don’t understand what our job is about) and some are borderline insulting!

1. So You’re a Party Planner?
Being an event planner doesn’t automatically, mean that you are a party planner, but this is what most people seem to think! Whether you organise conferences, exhibitions, corporate events, festivals, team building - for some people organising events can only mean one thing – planning parties.
We have the utmost respect for creative and talented party planners that specialise in this area BUT a professional conference organiser would prefer not to be described as a party planner and vice versa!

2. So What Does an Event Planner Actually Do?
To us it seems so obvious the amount of planning and detail that goes into every single event but others are simply baffled by our role and think that events magically happen by themselves. This should of course be a huge compliment to the industry that we make it look so flawless and easy executing our events but it often comes across almost as an insult!
I guess this highlights how some people simply are not cut out for event planning if they cannot think about the detail required behind the scenes to make it a success!

3. There’s a Degree for That?
The argument about whether event managers are born or made rattles on and even those within the industry can have opposing views about whether an event management degree or qualification is worthwhile. Those from outside the industry can sometimes be even more incredulous.
Qualifications in event management have a strong business focus. All in all they offer a solid basic education, even for those that do not end up working in the event industry in the long term.

4. How Many Celebs are in your Phone Book?
In the name of professionalism and confidentiality this is always a difficult one to answer. How do you satisfy the interest of the person asking without sounding like you are name dropping anyway? Event planners probably do have a few popstars, DJs, TV personalities, speakers and performers in their phone book but whether they are Z list or A list when asked many event planners will give a suitably vague answer and change the subject.

5. I Need to Put On an Event Like Yesterday – Can You Help?
It is amazing how many times event planners start talking to someone only for them to remember suddenly that they need to put on an event as their number one priority in next to no time, even though they have often put absolutely no thought into it up until that point and done zilch about it. Of course event planners can and do work wonders on a regular basis with ridiculously short lead times, but everyone will get so much more from the event if we actually can plan out a realistic time frame.

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. 🎥

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced 🤔

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. 🔍

Creating Truly Random Links 🛠️

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube 📺

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎵

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact 🤑

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. 📈
