Welcome to my short video showing you how to connect and use your AirPods with an Android device. In this video I’ll also be showing you a couple of third party apps that will help you control your AirPods!

Before we begin please note that I’m using a Samsung Galaxy Tab E for demonstration purposes in this video, but the process and controls should be similar if not the same on most Android devices.

First to setup or pair your AirPods with your Android phone or tablet go to settings, then to connections, and then make sure the bluetooth connection option is turned on and touch bluetooth to bring up the bluetooth menu. This menu will display all of the available bluetooth devices near by. Now with your AirPods, open the lid and press the pairing button on the back of your AirPods until the light flashes white. Then on the Android device the AirPods should show up and be available to select. Now tap the AirPods on the menu and they should now be “paired” or setup with the Android device.

Once the AirPods have been setup, now when you open the lid and take them out and use them they should automatically connect to your Android device, as they always connect to the last connected device by default. If however they don’t auto connect you can always go to the bluetooth menu in settings and tap them to connect. I also found that I can access the bluetooth menu from swiping down and turning off and then on bluetooth which then triggers the bluetooth selection menu to pop up.

Controlling your AirPods when using them with an android device is very basic as they lose many of the controls they have when used with an iPhone or Apple Device. The double tap feature can only play/pause the music and can not be customized like it can on an iPhone. Also remember that the auto pause when removed from the ear does not work with android devices. They only offer basic bluetooth headphone functionality. But they’re still super convenient and simple to use.

There are some third party Apps that try to bring some of the conveniences that the AirPods offer on Apple devices to Android, such as the AirBattery app that tells you the battery level of the AirPods. I found this app very useful! When you use your AirPods on an android device the only way to check the battery level is by using the light on the AirPods case, which is at least something, but not as good as actually knowing the percentage.

The other third party App I looked at that tries to bring some of the iOS controls the AirPods offer to android is PodsPlay, this app is supposed to enable the auto play/pause that occurs when you remove one AirPod. The app also offers the ability to override the AirPods default double tap behaviour so you can use it for ok google or to listen to the next track, previous track or even move forward or backward 30 seconds. PodsPlay is not a free app so I didn’t end up trying it out myself, but the reviews for the latest version of the App on the Play Store are mostly positive.

So that’s how you connect AirPods to an android device. Have you found any good third Party apps for AirPods on the Google Play store to improve the experience? If so share them the with us in the comments!

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. 🎥

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced 🤔

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. 🔍

Creating Truly Random Links 🛠️

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube 📺

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎵

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact 🤑

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. 📈
