Harry Potter Golden Snitch Toffee Apples Video

Carly's caught the Snitch, 150 points to Gryffindor! These toffee apples give an amazing twist to a time-old autumn treat. They are great for any Halloween party or even to enjoy around Bonfire Night. If you have a go at this recipe yourself, please show me your creations, I'd love to see what you've been up to.

Please bare in mind that this recipe is not suitable for children to make as both the caramel and toffee mixture reach very high temperatures and could leave a nasty burn if it comes into contact with the skin. However, once made (by an adult) they make perfect tasty treats that children will love.

For the caramel wings, you will need:
 100ml Cold Water
 200g Sugar
 A bean sized amount of golden yellow food colouring (I used Wilton)
 A Bowl of Iced Water

For the toffee, you will need:
 450g Demerara Sugar
 50g Unsalted Butter
 2 Tsp Cider Vinegar
 1 Tbsp Golden Syrup
 150ml Cold Water
 A bean sized amount of golden yellow food colouring (I used Wilton)

You will also need:
 3 Granny Smith Apples
 3 square Toffee Apple Sticks
 1 sharp Knife
 Non-stick Greaseproof Baking Paper
 A Baking Tray/Sheet
