Sejumlah poin temuan TPF kasus Novel Baswedan sudah dilaporkan ke Kapolri untuk ditindaklanjuti. Salah satu rekomendasinya membentuk tim teknis yang harus mengungkap pelaku lapangan. Tim ini diberikan tenggat waktu tiga bulan oleh Presiden Jokowi untuk menyelesaikan kasus ini. Menurut Ketua KPK, Agus Rahardjo, KPK berharap kasus ini bisa tuntas dan memberikan keadilan bagi Novel.
Soal tudingan adanya penyalahgunaan wewenang, Agus Rahardjo mengatakan dalam melakukan penyelidikan suatu kasus, KPK melakukan prosedur yang ketat dan berlapis sehingga tipis kemungkinan penyalahgunaan wewenang. Sementara soal adanya anggota KPK di tim bentukan Polri, Agus mengetahuinya. Namun dirinya tidak tahu seoptimal apa anggota KPK di tim tersebut.
Anggota TPF kasus Novel Baswedan, Hermawan Sulistyo mengatakan tim ini hadir bukan untuk memuaskan publik, tapi mencari fakta. Ia juga menegaskan tim ini tidak takut terhadap jenderal, media dan LSM sehingga tidak peduli akan adanya kritikan. “Ini di tim ada dari KPK. Awalnya ikut aktif, tapi lama-lama tidak aktif dengan alasan sibuk menangani kasus-kasus di KPK,” katanya.
