John Harris And The Soul Sayers - Hangin' In
Kerston Records # KR 60050. Released in 1967. Reissued in 2013
Amazing northern soul 45 choone by John Harris & the Soul Sayers. Harris, who was an African-American GI and stationed in the Rhineland (Germany), was the leader of a band called the Soul Sayers. They released their lone 45rpm single on Kerston Records, a label which mainly released beat, garage rock and chanson in the 1960s. Harris's release is probably the only one in the field of Soul music. Former sound engineer Kersten remembers an edition of 250 copies. Original issue is mega scarce and very expensive nowadays if you have a chance to find one for sale. In 2013 the record was reissued. In fact the were 2 reissues - 1 legal on Cree Records - 500 copies. And second is unofficial replica - with exact labels and picture sleeve like on original Kerston release - also 500 copies. So now there about 1000 reissue copies of this single around. Unfortunately i don't have deep pockets to get the original copy, so this rip made from the looka-like replica of Kerston 2013 release.
