Biotech season is coming up with a lot of biotech stocks having their FDA reports being released in this coming month and the next. With there being a lot of money in these pharmaceutical stocks if you know how to research and trade them, I thought I would make a video explaining how to research biotech stocks and find out when they will report their FDA approval or denial results. The website I mention/use in the video is BioPharmCatalyst. Look it up when you are done watching the video. However, as I mention, this site just simplifies some of the stuff and makes assumptions so don’t take this as true all the time. The best thing to do is to look at the SEC filings, which can be brought up through NASDAQ as I show.
Beyond just knowing the date of FDA approval, what makes you successful at trading pharmaceutical stocks is the other factors like how many drugs they have in their pipeline, how long they have been around, how many patients are in their study or studies, and how big of a market potential there is for their drug or how many potential patients are affected by it. Also, you need to understand what stage in the FDA approval process the drug is in. There is NDA, Phase 1, phase 2, phase 3, and the PDUFA. If these topics interest you, I will go into more depth how to these works and how to find the best plays. Like I said in the video, given the climate for the markets in 2017, I think there is a great opportunity in biotechs, however that doesn’t negate the obvious risks. Nonetheless, hopefully you guys can be encouraged by how easy it is to understand and research biotech stocks so that you can start finding pharma plays yourself! Don’t be intimidated by all the medical jargon, it is very simple once you expose yourself to it enough times!
