In this video I’m making a bent lamination wall light from wood veneer. I wanted to test bent lamination with thin wood veneer, because it makes tight curves and thin material thickness possible. I love the way it turned out and I hope you like it!

MATERIALS:

For the light:
Wood veneer (I used ash)
Veneer covered plywood
0,63mm steel
Spray paint (I used matte black)
Wood glue
Two part epoxy glue
A light cord with a switch
Oil finish for the wood
LED lamp (doesn’t heat up)

For the mold:
MDF
Plywood
Wood glue
0,63mm steel (galvanized so it doesn’t rust)
Screws

TOOLS:
Pen
Ruler
Drawing compass
Straight edge
Scissors
Band saw
Miter saw
Belt sander
Screwdriver
Drill bits
Orbital sander
Sheet metal punch
Hammer
Clamps

USEFUL TIPS:
Attach the L-bracket and drill a groove for the cord before gluing the sheet metal part to the plywood parts.
Use a LED lamp that doesn’t heat up, otherwise the wood is too close to the lamp.
Cross-laminate the veneer if possible, it will prevent any warping after glue-up. I didn’t have a wide enough veneer for that, sadly.
