In 3-Dimensional Effects: How-To Airbrush Rivets & Overlapping Panels (Part 1), I explain and demonstrate three different quick methods for rendering realistic, 3-dimensional appearing rivets on a clay board panel. I discuss pros and cons related to each method. For example, the traditional method for painting rivets looks fantastic over a solid color base coat; however, it doesn’t look as good when painted over a metallic base coat in my opinion. Part 2 will focus on a fourth method that can be used when painting this effect over specialized base coats.
