Indian Evidence Act, 1872 has been passed by Imperial Legislative Council in 1872 during the British Raj. It contains a set of rules and allied issues governing admissibility of evidence in the Indian Courts of Law.
It has 11 chapters covering total 167 sections.
The Act came into force on 1 September, 1872.
