Learning how to drive a car starts in a parking lot. When learning how to drive a car--regardless of whether it's an automatic or manual transmission--begins in a parking lot or other closed-circuit area with minimal traffic.

When learning how to drive a a student must start with the basics. And those basics are learning to control the primary controls--accelerator, brake, steering, and clutch--of the vehicle. If a student becomes proficient in the basic controls of the vehicle when learning how to drive a car, this will improve his or her overall driving. And consequently, she/he will learn more quickly to drive a car well.

Although 7/8 of the road test is in a forward motion, it is the slow-speed manoeuvres that make up 1/8 of the road test that new drivers find the most challenging.

Any activity has basic skills that a novice must practice and understand, and for driving it is slow-speed manoeuvres. These manoeuvres can be broken down into three categories:

1) Controlling the Primary Controls
2) Speed & Space Management
3) Specific Skills for a Road Test

The first part of learning slow-speed manoeuvres teaches the new driver about the primary controls of the vehicle:

• steering wheel
• brake
• throttle
• clutch

The second aspect of slow-speed manoeuvres teaches the new driver about speed and space management. These exercises with pylons and a 2X4 also teach how to control the vehicle in space and in relation to other objects. Finally, the exercises for speed and space management teaches the new driver how to work the primary controls together: How to steer and accelerate; how to steer and brake; how to work the clutch and throttle, etc.

And the third component of the slow-speed manoeuvres teaches the new driver the specific manoeuvres required for a road test:

Time spent in a parking lot or other closed circuit area will improve a new drivers overall driving abilities and skills. Time and practice must be dedicated to these fundamentals of driving to properly prepare for the challenges of both a road test and the rigours of driving.

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. 🎥

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced 🤔

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. 🔍

Creating Truly Random Links 🛠️

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube 📺

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎵

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact 🤑

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. 📈
